Playing for Keeps actress Olympia Valance has posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram dedicated to her late grandfather.
The series of black and white photos are accompanied by a touching message, which praises her grandfather’s achievements including his humanitarian causes, erecting multiple greek festivals in his community and creating the largest Greek newspaper in Australia.
“Today I am incredibly saddened by the passing of my grandfather, my papou, Dimitri Gogos,” began Valance’s emotional post.
“He passed peacefully yesterday at the age of 88, marking the end of an era in the Greek community. Greek Australians will remember my papou as the man who founded the largest Greek newspaper in Australia, Neos Kosmos, a newspaper that was established and nurtured on the dreams and challenges of immigrants who left Greece behind in pursuit of a better life in Australia.”
“He was one of the most incredible men I knew and I couldn’t be prouder to be his granddaughter. Rest In Peace my Papou” Valance finished the emotional post.
