Miley then sings: “I am not who I used to be/You say that everything changed/ You’re right we’re grown now.”
This is no doubt in reference to their early years, as the two met as teenagers in 2009 on the set of teen romance movie, The Last Song.
Here’s where Miley directly addresses the rumour that it was Liam’s partying ways that ultimately spelt the end for the couple, singing “don’t want the whiskey and pills”.
“I want my house in the hills/Don’t want the whiskey and pills/I don’t give up easily/But I don’t think I’m down.”
Miley then sings about asking a Byron Bay surf loving Liam to “slide away back to the ocean”.
Following Liam Hemsworth filing for divorce last Wednesday, US publication Star a sensational cover story, headlined ‘Drugs, lies and abuse’. Insiders told the magazine that their seven-month marriage was ‘destroyed by lies, cheating and hard partying’.
“Liam is telling people close to him that Miley made his life hell,” the source told the publication.
Friends of Liam also allege Miley was unfaithful on several occasions. “She cheated on him more than once,” they claimed.
“It’s no secret that Miley hooked up with many men and women in the past,” Star’s source added.
When Liam was out of town, he was “constantly worried about what she was up to”, claims the publication.
“His thoughts would spiral about whether she was up to her old tricks,” the source spilled.
But that wasn’t the only issue. The couple also accused each other of overdoing it when partying, amid lurid social media buzz and American headlines about alleged drug use. The innuendo has been denied by sources close to Liam.
A source told TMZ, “This is another attempt by Miley to distract from her infidelity and recent outrageous public behaviour.”
Despite Star’s lurid report, upon hearing her now ex-husband had filed for divorce, a Miley source told PEOPLE that the singer, “didn’t expect it”.
“She didn’t expect it and is a bit disappointed, but she is still doing well and has obviously moved on as well,” the source said.
“What she and Liam had for a long time was very special.”
