Her ex-husband Ben Affleck is officially moving on with another woman.
And Jennifer Garner is dealing with the shocking blow the best way she knows how – by going into “mama-bear mode.”
PEOPLE report that the actress was “devastated” to learn of his alleged three-year affair with Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus, but instead of lashing out, she’s determined to put her “kids’ happiness first.”
“It’s not an easy situation for Jen,” a source close to the star told the publication.
“It would have been easier for Jen if Ben would have just dated someone that Jen wasn’t familiar with.”
Affleck, 44, and Shookus took their romance public last week after being spotted on several dates together in London.
The news didn’t come as a surprise to Garner, 45, who reportedly expected her former beau to start dating after their divorce filing back in April.
“She knew it would happen soon,” the source said. “Ben just can’t be alone.”
“Of course there are issues given it was a major affair, but Jen is her own woman and is completely fine.”
Despite their seemingly serious relationship, sources say Shookus is still yet to meet Affleck and Garner’s three children, Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5.
“Jen and Ben have talked about not introducing the kids to people they date until it’s serious,” an insider explained, adding Garner: “Isn’t thinking about dating – she just wants to protect and spend time with the kids.”
