Throughout the 10 season run of the hit show Friends, the world became infatuated with the romance of Rachel and Ross, portrayed by Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer.

Twenty-five years later, an insider has told New Idea Jen and David could now potentially be more than just friends.
“Jen and David have always had feelings for one another,” the insider tells New Idea.
Speculation around the relationship of the former on-screen lovers reached fever pitch last week when Jennifer, 50, revealed the entire cast had recently reunited. Sharing a selfie to her newly created Instagram account, Jen posted a cosy group shot with David, 52, along with their fellow Friends co-stars, Courteney Cox, 55, Matt LeBlanc, 52, Matthew Perry, 50, and Lisa Kudrow, 56.
The ensemble castmates have always spoken openly about their tight bond.
“The cast of Friends are almost closer to me than my own family,” Jen revealed at the height of the show’s success.
But the insider says it was Jennifer and David’s continued connection that was apparent at the reunion. “After reuniting with the gang, it was clear they still had a spark and their chemistry was stronger than ever,” the insider revealed.
Indeed, things have been going so well that marriage might be on the cards.
What’s more, a few years back, David cheekily revealed he and his fellow castmates had not abided by a ‘no sex between castmates’ contractual clause. “Well, that was broken!” David admitted in a 2016 on-air reunion special.
Our insider confirms that Jen and David have had “brief flings in the past”, with the first one being 22 years ago, however they never went public.
Meanwhile, Jen and David’s castmates were reportedly the ones playing cupid – particularly Jen’s best friend, Courteney.
According to the insider, “Courteney and Lisa acted as matchmakers – pushing David to tell Jen his true feelings for her.”
In the past, David spoke fondly about how his on-screen chemistry with Jen translated off-screen. “It’s a job – someone’s gotta kiss Jennifer Aniston,” David said at the time. “Jennifer and I can do our job well because we truly are friends.”
Further to this, the insider adds that David has reportedly told Courteney and Lisa for years that he’d always “felt deep down that Jen was The One”.
Jennifer had also previously been highly complementary about her connection with David. In past interviews, Jen dubbed David as “perfect” and “one of the sexiest men alive” – and admitted that they “just feed off each other”.
The latest reunion comes at a time when both actors have recently found themselves single. It’s been over a year and a half since Jen split from her second husband, Justin Theroux, and she was previously married to Brad Pitt. Meanwhile, David separated from his wife, Zoe Buckman, in 2017 after almost seven years of marriage. The former couple also share a daughter, 8-year-old Cleo.
The insider speculates that the stars could finally be aligning for the actors. “It’s always been a case of the wrong time – with both of them always involved with someone else or coming out of a relationship.”
Jen and David’s recent social media behaviour has also further fuelled speculation about a potential relationship.
In reply to US Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe’s question asking, ‘Are you and Ross still together’, Jen quipped in response that they were “on a break”, quoting one of the most memorable lines about the on-screen couple.
Fans also noted that in reply to Jen’s new Instagram account, David uploaded an image of Ross and Rachel as LEGO figurines along with the simple, yet sweet message: “Hi Jen! x”
According to the insider, these small clues are just the tip of the iceberg. “They’ve finally admitted their true feelings for one another after 25 years of friendship,” the insider reveals. “They just wished they’d gotten together years ago.”
