Tradies Tim and Mat admit they have a definite advantage when it comes to competing in House Rules.
“There’s no doubt we are a winning combination,” Tim, 32, says. “We’ve renovated before; we’ve done it together to a high standard and are confident in what we do.”
The brothers – who have the same mum but different dad – have always been close.
Mat, 27, jokes he’s ‘the better looking one!’ “We don’t use the word half. He’s always been my brother since I was born.”
“I used to work with him, so we are used to spending a lot of time together we used to work Monday to Saturday doing long days, so we are used to spending time with each other,” Mat adds.
Yet the pair admit they’ll cope with the high pressure environment the show will bring.
“It is a different environment, if you butt heads you deal with it and move on. If we yell at each other, it’s just like “alright” – no grudges,” says Tim.
“Yeah, no grudges. I think in that environment it’s easy to get a bit snappy and a bit stressed cause you’re running on low sleep. It’s a high-pressure environment and you’ve got to make snap decisions and you might not always agree with the way the other one wants to go. So you might get fiery but you move past it pretty quickly…” adds Mat.
That said during the show, the boys had a little spat when Tim picked the room Mat didn’t want.
‘You could have spoken up and said, no I don’t want this room,’ Mat lamented over the bedroom with curved walls and no natural light.
‘I don’t why you agreed to this room, it’s the crapiest room,’ he added scoping out the bedroom annoyed.
