Friends sweethearts Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox reunited for a lunch date today, sending both friends and fans reeling.

Cox took to Instagram earlier today to share a selfie with her former castmate.
“Guess who I had lunch with today….I KNOW!! Could I BE any happier? #realfriends” the 55-year-old wrote in the caption of the sweet photo.
The pair, who played onscreen mega couple Chandler and Monica on the iconic sit-com, were met with an enthusiastic response to their photo.
Their Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston was one of many followers who commented on Cox’s post.
“MATTY!! ❤️❤️❤️ I LOVE YOU, GUYS,” wrote Aniston (who sensationally joined Instagram last month). Aniston played Rachel Greene in the sit-com alongside Cox and Perry.
Another castmate, Lisa Kudrow – who played Phoebe Buffay – also commented on the photo, writing, “Lucky lucky. #beautifulpeople.”
Perry’s Mr Sunshine co-star, Allison Janney also commented “Love you Matthew💖” on the post.
Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet also commented on the photo, writing, “High quality content!”
Recently, Cox posted a photo with Stonestreet in a hot tub. The pair were joined by soccer legend David Beckham and actor Jesse Tyler in the provocative photo. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cox and Beckham will appear in an episode of the hit comedy series Modern Family in 2020.
The photo of Cox and Perry has received 1.6 million likes and over 60,000 comments, proving Friends fans are as invested as ever.
So it’s no surprise the green light has been given to a new Friends project. Aniston confirmed a reunion of sorts was happening while appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on 29 October.
“Something is happening,” the Morning Show star stated. “But we don’t know what that something is.”
Fans desperate for a real Friends reunion may have to wait a while for more information, but a photo of the widely-loved Chandler and Monica appears to be a well-appreciated consolation prize.
