“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” she wrote.

“As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realised how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans.

“During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

Celine’s sister confirmed the singer had lost control over her muscles a year after the My Heart Will Go On singer was diagnosed with stiff person syndrome (SPS).

Speaking with 7 Jours in December 2023, Claudette Dion said that whilst her younger sister was “working hard” to combat the condition, her future was uncertain.

“What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard,” Claudette shared with the Canadian outlet.

“The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle. This is what comes to get me. Because it’s one out of a million case, the scientists haven’t done that much research because it didn’t affect that many people.”

The singer first revealed she was suffering from the incurable neurological condition in December 2022.

Sources now fear the neurological disease has progressed to the point where Celine might be having trouble walking unaided.

“Getting SPS has really left Celine in a bad place,” reveals one insider.

In the months following that grim diagnosis, Celine cut ties with her large group of friends, limiting her circle to just a select few people.

“She can only hide her issues for short periods,” the insider added.

Amongst her closest confidants are the three sons she shares with her late husband, René Angélil: René-Charles, 22, and 12-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy. The protective trio have grown “incredibly scared” for their mother, says the source.

“The last thing the boys want is for Celine to be avoiding everyone because it’s a struggle,” the source shares.

Whilst it’s unlikely that Celine will ever return to full-time touring, her sister Claudette believes that she return to the stage in the future.

“It’s true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know,” she said.
