Gold medalist Mack Horton appeared on The Project to talk about his time in Rio, however host Carrie Bickmore had other things on her mind.
An awkward joke about unprotected sex from Bickmore left the athlete looking less than comfortable.
‘Just a health message from the minister before we go, apparently you’re not allowed to have unprotected sex for the next two months just in case you spread Zika,’ Bickmore said.
‘Were you planning on doing that?,’ Peter Helliar asked.
Lost for words, Horton, who won gold in the men’s 400m freestyle, simply gulped from his water, replying; ‘No’.
Helliar quickly added: ‘We’ll take a break, we’ll take a break.’
