Gold Coast couple Codie Lea, 21, and Nathan, 25, met four-and-a-half years ago at the races and instantly fell head over heels for each other.
Just a few years later, the pair became proud parents to their 2-year-old daughter, Starr-Armani.

Now the lovebirds are ready to make things official and tie the knot on Bride & Prejudice: The Forbidden Weddings. But there is one thing standing in their way – Nathan’s mum Laurelle!
“Codie Lea is a plastic Barbie girl. Everything about her is false. Fake boobs, fake hair, fake eyelashes, fake lips. I don’t think she’s human,” says Laurelle, 49.
“I hate her guts, I’m not going to lie, I do.”
The young couple are hoping that appearing on Bride & Prejudice can help mend their strained relationship with Laurelle.
“We came on the show because I want to repair my relationship with my mother,” Nathan tells New Idea.
“We were close, but we’ve been pretty on-and-off since I was about 12. She’s controlling … it’s a control thing.”
The couple and Laurelle have been all but estranged for 18 months.
Despite hoping the rift would be fixed after the birth of their daughter, Starr-Armani, things haven’t really changed.
Codie Lea says she simply cannot reason with her soon-to-be mother-in-law.
“Anything I say she will take offence to. Any word I say – I could say the colour blue and she’d be offended,” Codie Lea confesses.
“I genuinely don’t see where she’s coming from half the time – because the accusations are just crazy.”
And, while they are more than willing to work things out, it appears that Laurelle isn’t ready to change her opinions of Codie Lea.
Laurelle even accuses the 21-year-old hairdresser of cheating on Nathan in this week’s explosive episode.
What’s more, Laurelle even asks Codie Lea to sit for a lie detector test so she can finally discover whether her allegations are correct.
“When the lie detector test gets done and I prove that Codie Lea is lying to Nathan about cheating, I am going to feel guilty about breaking the relationship up, but I will feel relieved to get my son back,” Laurelle says.
She adds: “I know Codie is a cheater.”
Of course, Codie Lea was taken aback by the request, but she agreed to do it.
“I did feel like it was an interrogation,” Codie Lea says.
“But I was more than happy to do it, because deep down inside she knew she was lying to herself. I had no dramas doing it.”
While, Codie Lea admits that it was hard to hear Laurelle’s accusations, she isn’t going to let it get to her.
“The allegations don’t break my heart because I know the truth, Nathan knows the truth and it honestly doesn’t affect our relationship,” says Codie Lea.
As for what the truth is, it will all come out when Codie Lea is hooked up to the lie detector this week.
Will Laurelle finally get the answers she wants, or will she be left feeling shocked?
