The cause of her death has not been determined, although police have said it does not appear to be criminally related.
Officials responded to a report of an unconscious female at her home in Suffolk County, New York, at 5.23am on Thursday, according to The Blast.
Ashley was administered CPR on the way to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Just one day before her death she had taken to Twitter to alert fans that she had recently posted a series of replies to fan mail she had received.
“Just answered a ton of fanmail so you guys should be receiving them soon! Love ya punx,” she wrote alongside the photo.
Ashley was known for winning WWE’s “2005 Raw Riva Search” and her high-profile match against Melina at Wrestlemania 23 in 2007.
She also appeared on Survivor: China in 2007, but was voted off on the second episode.
She left the WWE in 2008, and made her comeback with another professional wrestling company in 2017.
