Teresa Palmer shares heartbreaking photo of the moment before losing her baby

So sad.

Australian actress Teresa Palmer has shared a heartbreaking image depicting the moments just before discovering her pregnancy “wasn’t viable.”

The 32-year-old took to Instagram on Monday and shared a picture of herself beaming alongside husband Mark Webber and son Sage, now four.

She captioned the photo: “August 13, 2015; 7 weeks pregnant and waiting for the doctor to come in to see the heartbeat of our second baby.

“A few minutes later she walked in, we were giddy with excitement, but we never got to see our baby’s heartbeat, instead we heard the words ‘I’m so sorry this baby doesn’t look viable’.”

Palmer then learnt that she had a “molar pregnancy” which occurs when the cells that normally form a placenta develop into normal cells and can be “potentially cancerous”, the actress also shared.

“I needed surgery immediately. I was whisked away into the operating theatre to have a D&C [dilation and curettage].

“It was the first time I’d ever been in hospital,” she continues.

“It was the most terrifying, traumatic and grief filled experience we’ve ever been through. It still haunts us.”

16 months later, Teresa welcomed her second son Bodhi.

The Adelaide-born beauty shares two children with husband Mark. She is also a stepmum to Mark’s son Issac, whom he shares with actress Frankie Shaw.
