Prince Philip has been spotted looking active and sprightly as he took his horses out for a ride on the grounds of Windsor.

The Duke of Edinburgh looked cozy, wrapped ip in gloves, a tweed hat and blanket as he drove along the banks of the River Thames.

The 97-year-old royal was riding solo at the front of his carriage, and was accompanied by two stable-women who sat behind.

The retired royal regularly takes his horses out for a spin in the Windsor Castle grounds.

Both the Duke and the Queen are huge fans of animals and Her Majesty is often seen riding her horses solo.

The Queen, and husband Philip, have passed down their love of riding to their children and grandchildren.

Princess Anne is also regularly seen riding her horses around Windsor, and her daughter Zara Tindall won a silver medal in Equestrian at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Prince William and Harry are also keen riders, with the pair taking part in polo matches.
