They may have found themselves at the centre of hundreds of unfavourable headlines after chartering a private jet to both Nice and Ibiza earlier this month, but it would seem despite their royal status, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are keen to prove they’re just like the rest of us regular folk.

WATCH: Meghan Markle shares emotional ‘surprise’ video:

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly spotted grabbing a spot of lunch along with three-month-old son Archie at their local pub, the Rose & Crown in Winkfield village, England over the weekend.

According to The Sun’s royal correspondent Emily Andrews, the royal couple went largely unrecognised during their family lunch – despite the fact they were also accompanied by two protection officers.

“Meghan was cradling Archie most of the time,” the eye-witness told Andrews.

“The little lad was as good as gold, I didn’t hear him cry once while he was there.”

The Rose & Crown, which is just 8 kilometres from Meghan and Harry’s Windsor home labels itself a “British pub with all the trimmings,” and even serves a special Sunday roast for $27.

Meghan and Harry – who are famously eco-friendly – were widely slammed hypocrisy after chartering private jets earlier this month.

Express UK reported that their French holiday was estimated to have a carbon footprint of almost three kilograms, while their earlier trip to Ibiza was believed to have racked up almost four.

While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are yet to publicly comment on the private jet controversy, Sir Elton John – who was a friend of Princess Diana – was quick to jump to their defense, taking to Instagram to vouch for the couple.
