The Duchess of Sussex and Duchess of Cambridge have been branded “the new” Sarah Ferguson and Princess Diana for the way they have been “thrown together” in the Royal Family.

Meghan and Kate, both from very different backgrounds, are regularly seen attending royal engagements together as they accompany their husbands Prince Harry and Prince William at formal occasions.

While it may appear the duchesses are “best friends”, royal experts have dubbed . the pair the “new Fergie and Diana” because of the way they have been “thrown together.”

The Daily Telegraph’s Associate Editor Camilla Tominey claimed in Yahoo’s The Royal Box series that the pair’s “closest comparison” would be the relationship of Diana and Fergie following their marriages to Prince Charles and Prince Andrew.

Tominey claimed this is because, like Meghan and Kate, Diana and Fergie found themselves in the same situation at the same time but they were both “ordinary women in extraordinary circumstances”.

Tominey further explained: “I think they get on, I don’t know whether they have all that much in common.

“I think Meghan as an actress is naturally very extroverted, whereas Kate is shy and quite reserved.”

Etiquette expert Jo Bryant agreed, saying: “The interesting thing to remember as well is that you can’t choose your family, we come up with this idea that they have to be buddies but if you think of the average family, are sisters in law always best friends? No.”
