Canadian police have just released this CCTV video of murdered Australian tourist Lucas Fowler and his American partner Chynna Deese – the last known footage of the duo before they were brutally slaughtered by an unknown assailant on a lonely Canadian highway.

The pair are seen affectionately hugging and kissing as they filled up their van at a gas station. The haunting images come as police look into whether their murders were the work of a possible serial killer, who may be responsible for other recent disappearances in the area.

Missing teenagers Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, were driving a Dodge pick-up truck that was recently found on fire in British Columbia, sparking speculation the same perpetrator may have been involved. No sign of the young men has since been found.

‘It is unusual to have two major investigations undergoing of this nature in northern BC at the same time, and so we recognise that there is a possibility that these could be linked,’ admitted police spokeswoman Corporal Janelle Shoihet.

The release of the vision also comes as police have also released a sketch of a man who was seen talking to the couple before their mysterious deaths.

He was seen speaking to Lucas on Highway 97 on the evening of July 14.

Lucas’ father, NSW Police Chief Inspector Stephen Fowler has pleaded for witnesses to come forward.

‘It’s a love story that’s ended tragically. It really is,’ he said of the tragic couple’s relationship. ‘It’s the worst-ever love story.’
