Following the international success of reality TV’s hottest new series, Channel Nine has just launched Australia’s version of the franchise which promises audiences “a different type of reality show”.
Hosted by lovable country larrikin Hamish Blake, LEGO Masters Australia is set to be a lot more than children’s entertainment with prize money of $100,000 on offer to the show’s most talented builders.
Contestants – who compete in eight teams of two – will work with 2.5 million Lego bricks at their disposal inside the Brick Pit and will need to consistently impress judges with their creativity and structural expertise.
According to fan account Jays Brick Blog, LEGO Masters Australia premiered on Sunday, April 28 at 7pm and is available on the 9Now player to stream for those who missed out.

The first series will be spread across nine episodes and launched to a staggering 1.38 million Australian viewers on Sunday night, TV Tonight reports.
The new reality show has hit the ground running, beating viewing figures for Married At First Sight which made its’ Australian debut this year with 1 million.
LEGO Masters also beat the return of Seven’s House Rules as well as My Kitchen Rules.
Adrian Swift, Nine’s Head of Content, Production and Development, said the participants of LEGO Masters have skills that “very few of us” possess.
A major selling point of Nine’s newest show is the involvement of Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught – the only officially accredited Lego builder in the Southern Hemisphere!
McNaught is also one of only 13 certified Lego professionals in the world and will serve as both a judge and mentor on the Nine production.
LEGO Masters was filmed in Melbourne throughout 2018 and features participants from all corners of Australia.
The series comes from producers Endemol Shine Australia, who are behind Australian Ninja Warrior, Master Chef and Married At First Sight.

Dinushi and Gayan
These Sri Lankan best friends run a south Asian food truck – but their true passion will always be LEGO!
The lovable twosome claim to have entire rooms dedicated to the building bricks at home, and together own more than 500 LEGO sets.

Bilsy and Kale
Radio host Bilsy also has a room dedicated to LEGO at home, as well as half a garage full of bricks!
Kale already makes a full-time living out of LEGO by selling photos of his award-winning creations.
David and G
These professional colleagues come from mechanical backgrounds, and between them have 150,000 LEGO building bricks in their personal collections!
Henry and Cade
Talented builders Henry and Cade are both dads with a child-like passion for LEGO.
Both have been recognised for their incredible skill, with Cade earning a Guinness World Record for a life-size caravan he built from 288,000 pieces of LEGO.
Jordan and Miller
These young contenders are still at university but find plenty of time to get creative with LEGO.
The best friends bring vibrance and energy to the contest and say what they love most about building is “greebling” – the art of using a piece of LEGO as a decorative ornament!
Matt and Lyn
The oldest and youngest competitors in LEGO Masters Australia, Matt and Lyn are an adorable grandmother-grandson duo who bring a “lifetime love of LEGO” to the contest.
