This is the four-year-old boy who fell into a gorilla enclosure, prompting zookeepers to kill the animal who grabbed him.
Isiah Dickerson was with his mother Michelle Gregg and somehow managed to climb through a barrier at the Gorilla World exhibit and fall into a shallow moat.
Zoo officials have been criticised for shooting the animal while the mother has been described as negligent.
The killing has sparked a debate around the world as to who is to blame for gorilla’s death.
Celebrities like Kaley Cuoco, Ricky Gervais and Kelly Osbourne expressed their anger at Harambe’s death on social media.
The Big Bang Theory star Kaley, 30, said that the gorilla should never have been killed, pointing out that you can see him holding the child’s hand in video footage that was captured before he was shot.
And Hugh Hefner’s wife Crystal called for fans to ‘boycott’ the zoo as she shared a meme of Harambe with the words ‘Not sure why they killed me. I was doing a better job of watching that lady’s kid than she was,’ written across it.
Kelly Osbourne tweeted: ‘Shame on those for the murdering of #Harambe’, while Katharine McPhee pointed out that this would never have happened if animals like Harambe weren’t living in captivity to begin with.
Zelda Williams, daughter of the late actor Robin, said that the zoo is to blame for not ensuring that the enclosures are safe for children to look into without falling in.
‘How was the gorilla enclosure not child proof? You’re dealing with an endangered species & yet you’ve made it possible for kids to fall in?’ she tweeted. ‘We’re not talking about crazed adults climbing over, if a toddler can do it unattended, you’re endangering your visitors AND your animals.’
Zelda also added: ‘For the record, the parents are absolutely partially at fault, but it shouldn’t have been possible, unsupervised or otherwise. You ‘display’ wild animals in cages for money, but then you don’t properly protect them or the kids visiting them from each other? Shameful.
Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard has since claimed that Harambe, a western lowland silverback gorilla who weighed 400lbs, was not a ‘gentle thing’.
He said: ‘This child was being dragged around and his head was banging on the concrete. This was not a gentle thing.
