Angry Anderson has broken his silence for the first time since his 26-year-old son Liam died following an allegedly drug-fuelled fight.
Previous reports claim Liam’s attacker was his “best friend”, which Anderson has now denied.
The rocker shot down claims that his son was “best friends” with the accused, 20-year-old Matthew Flame.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Anderson said, “They were not best friends…He [Flame] wasn’t even in Liam’s main group of friends.”
Anderson added that he’d always taught his children to “do the right thing” and to “look after people”, which Anderson believes his son was doing on Sunday morning.
According to reports, Anderson was allegedly attacked by Flame in a Queenscliff park on Sydney’s Northern Beaches after consuming alcohol and MDMA.
According to documents tendered to Manly Local Court on Monday, Flame fled the party after briefly losing consciousness, fearing he may have overdosed.
Court documents further state Liam begged Flame to stay and after he refused, Liam ran after him.
Police allege that Flame turned on Liam, kicking and punching him repeatedly, not letting up until police arrived and subdued him with capsicum spray.
Detective Inspector Michael Boutouridis called the scene “quite bloody”.
“Liam was trying to help him,” Anderson told the publication.
“He was such a decent human being.”
