Everything you need to know about Australian Gladiators
Even though the Australian Gladiators was originally based on the American Gladiators in 1989, we have the British Gladiators version in the 1990s to thank for the events, format, and even music from the original series.
Australia was first introduced to Gladiators in real life on 29 April 1995. All three seasons were filmed at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and saw a series of Challengers compete in a series of increasingly difficult tests, designed to highlight their physical prowess against the Gladiators.

These Gladiators were the elite of the elite, with the strength and the stamina to put on a show for the live audience - and fans tuning in from around the nation.
With superhero-esque names such as Vulcan, Storm, and Hammer, fans idolised them and wanted to be them.
Australian Gladiators 2008 Reboot
Sadly, the original series came to an end on October 12 1996 - though, there was a brief revival that followed 20 years later, in 2008.
This time it was based on the US version of Gladiators, which was also revived at the same time.
Instead of being filmed in Brisbane, the revival was based in The Dome, Sydney. It was hosted by Tom Williams and Zoe Naylor, with referees including Bill Harrigan and John Forsythe.
The Sydney Altitudes Cheerleaders cheered the Contenders on every episode, with Chief Brabon (THE celebrity transformation coach) preparing the Gladiators and Contenders for their extremely physical roles.
The revival unfortunately didn't continue... until now.
