It may have only just begun, but Married At First Sight is already delivering a healthy dose of drama to television screens across Australia.
And in Sunday night's episode of the Channel 9 favourite, sparks seem to fly between new couple Sam Bell and Lizzie Sobinoff - for all the wrong reasons.
But before the duo had even laid eyes on each other, tradie Sam was introduced to his soon-to-be mother-in-law.
Standing nervously on the altar, the 26-year-old hunk made small talk with Lizzie's mum - before being taken aback by her self deprecating humour.
"She doesn't look like me so don't worry," she assured, prompting laughter from the guests.
Demonstrating his gentlemanly side, Sam replied: "What are you talking about, I was about to say you're beautiful!"
Part-time model Sam signed up for the series in hopes of finding a fun loving, down-to-earth partner, but it seems the New South Wales native was underwhelmed with his chosen bride.
Speaking to WHO, the construction worker revealed he was "disappointed" with the expert's pick, adding: "When I saw her, I was shocked as I wasn’t really attracted to her – and she seemed a bit pretentious."
Sam further admitted their wedding was "a bit of a disaster", and was unimpressed with how Lizzie ignored his family during the reception.
As Lizzie walked down the aisle, Sam's friends could already tell the match was not made in heaven with one revealing the worrying fact "he usually goes for brunettes".
