‘He was a kind, humble, sweet and thoughtful man who was recognised for his huge contribution to medicine through his work with platelets,’ Olivia captioned a screen shot of an article from The Times celebrating his life.

Having been forced to cancel her tour last year, Olivia revealed that the ‘severe back pain’ she was experiencing was in fact the return of cancer that had metastasised to her sacrum.

Olivia, 69, had previously fought off breast cancer in 1992 – and the loss of her uncle is yet another bitter blow in a long line of personal tragedies.

Olivia lost both her mother and sister to cancer, endured heartbreak after partner of nine years, Patrick McDermott, went missing during a boating trip in 2005, and has stood by her daughter Chloe Lattanzi’s side during her ongoing battles with body dysmorphia and addiction.

Olivia airs on Sunday night at 7:30pm on Channel Seven.
