We know Jennifer Aniston loves her beauty (she is the face of Aveeno, after all) but did you know she’s also a fan of non-invasive treatments? ‘I love lasers and Thermage [radio frequency] and Ultherapy [ultrasound]. I also like a good microcurrent facial,’ she reveals. We asked skin expert Jodie King of Skin Clinic to explain…

– Thermage

What is it?

Thermage uses radio frequency technology to strengthen collagen in your skin. It’s used on areas such as the abdomen, upper arm skin, eyelids, jowls and the neck. Heat energy treats the tissue deep in the dermis and dermal collagen.
The skin is cooled for comfort while gentle vibration begins.

Cost

Around $3000 for one hour. Treatment is recommend every three to five years.

–
Ultherapy

What is it?

Ultrasound is used to improve the look of lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. The handpiece delivers small deposits of focused energy to the dermis to lift and tighten skin.

Cost

It takes about one hour
at around $2500 to $4000 per treatment. See results after three months, and repeat treatment every 18 months to two years.
Caution Mild to moderate swelling post-procedure.

– Microcurrent facial
What is it?

Used to improve the look of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin and overall texture. A low-level electrical current
is passed through the skin
to ‘exercise’ facial muscles.
The microcurrent is able to ‘re-educate’ muscles that are beginning to sag with age.

Cost

It takes around one
hour and costs from $170 to $220 with several treatments required, and continued maintenance. Treatment is pain-free, but the patient can expect slight muscle twitching in some areas during treatment.
