Why Kate and Meghan put on opposite sides for Remembrance services

Is the family feud continuing?
  • 12 Nov 2019

Prince William and Kate Middleton and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were at the same Remembrance events this weekend - the first time they were together since Harry admitted to having some drama with his older brother. But they did little to put to bed rumours of a feud.

The "Fab Four" attended the annual Royal British Legion of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night as well as observing the annual Remembrance Sunday service from balconies overlooking the Cenotaph. But they were kept well apart.

According to Town and Country Magazine, who stands where during such events is determined by the order of precedence. The Queen is first, followed by her husband, Prince Philip (who this year, did not attend). Next is the next in line to the throne - Prince Charles followed Camilla. Prince William is higher up than Harry and their wives' positions fall in line accordingly.

In saying that at the Royal British Legion of Remembrance, Meghan and Harry, parents of six-month-old baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, were not in the same area as the rest of the Royal Family. Instead, they were seated further back than the front row positions given to Kate, William, Charles and Camilla.

It also raised some eyebrows that they were seated behind the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 55, and his much younger girlfriend Carrie Symonds, 31.

Harry caused a commotion when he recently opened up about the rumored rift between him and his older brother in ITV’s documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.

Harry said, “Inevitably stuff happens. But we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. We’re certainly on different paths at the moment. I’ll always be there for him and as I know, he’ll always be there for me. We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we’re so busy but I love him dearly. The majority of stuff is created out of nothing. As brothers, we have good days and we have bad days.”
