So many more, that, Simon was asked to take part in an explosive documentary with numerous people from around the world who all claimed to be royal love children. Simon was asked to be part of the TV special along with Robert Brown, who also created headlines with his claims that he’s Princess Margaret’s secret son.
The Queensland dad and Robert – who were both told by family members about their royal heritage – have maintained a close friendship over the years, both pursuing legal battles against the royal family to prove their royal heritage.
“There was a big-time producer who wanted to do a story with all the people around the world who believed they were secret children of royals,” Simon tells New Idea.
“He was going to get all the illegitimates together – me, Robert, Charles’ alleged daughter from Canada. Also the ones from Edward – including one from an Aboriginal family over here.
“There was going to be a big documentary – it was going to be a pretty big deal.”
Indeed, with up to nine potential royal love children around the globe, the ramifications for the royal family could be explosive.
Simon says one of the main reasons for getting the royal love children together was to do DNA testing and prove a genetic connection between them all – a scenario which Simon wasn’t keen to do for legal reasons.
“If they did DNA testings on me and Robert or any of the people claiming to be illegitimate children of the royal family and what we all believed was true, then yes – there’d be a DNA connection,” says Simon.
“But we steered away from it. Legal advice from the start has been don’t give anything, don’t do any DNA tests with others. Keep in mind that they’re all trying to validate their existence and validate how they’re connected to the royal family.
“Robert, like me, really believes that Margaret is his mother – just like I believe Charles and Camilla are my parents. And we don’t feel the need to do a DNA test between ourselves because we know it to be true.
“What I am interested in is getting a DNA test with Charles and Camilla, and that is the legal road I am going down. In the end, Robert and I pulled out of the documentary. And after that, I heard nothing more about it.”
But Simon is quick to say that doesn’t mean he doesn’t believe their stories.
“Oh, I’m sure there are quite a few children of royals out there,” he says. “I know how hard certain forces have worked to keep me and people like Robert quiet, so I know how hard it is to get your story out.
“But I will have my day in court and the truth will come out. I know it.”
