Their relationship faced a lot of public backlash after Charles and Camilla’s affair came to light.
But, Royal Commentator Angela Mollard reveals that nothing is further from the truth.
“She has been a brilliant step mum to William and Harry,” Angela explains on the New Idea Royals podcast.
In fact, after Charles and Camilla’s wedding in 2005 Harry reportedly told the press, “She’s a wonderful woman and she’s made our father very, very happy which is the most important thing.”
Clearly there is no bad blood between Camilla and the princes. However, it was a very different story for the public when the news of Charles and Camilla’s affair came out.
“I was living in London during those years and the backlash against Camilla was awful she was virtually a prisoner in her own home,” Angela shares.
“I remember at one stage she lived in the west of England and she was in the local supermarket car park and someone pelted her with bread rolls.”
Of course, After 14 years of marriage, Angela reveals that public opinion of Camilla is very much changing.
“14 years [since Charles and Camilla’s wedding] I think people are very appreciative of the work Camilla has done, she really supports her husband,” Angela revealed.
“I think history will remember this couple as a genuine love story.”
