And as soon as they finished filming, New Idea is told they unfollowed each other on Instagram, barely spoke a word in real life and have been biting their tongues while doing press together as their forbidden romance plays out on screen.
“Sam has obviously got a girlfriend now and he and Ines really can’t stand each other and never could. Their fling was nothing more than an unspoken business agreement between them and producers to ensure maximum impact.
Ines and Sam's path to reality TV infamy has come with a few problems. "Ines' weight has plummeted since the show started airing. She had no idea she’d be portrayed this evil,” adds the source. “As far as she was concerned, she was giving the producers exactly what they wanted and didn’t realise they’d cut out her more lighthearted moments.”
Meanwhile, according to another insider, some film crew and producers have refused to work on the show again. “In particular, a lot of female producers are refusing to return for another season,” the source explains. “They don’t want to be involved in how anti-relationship the show’s become. They want nothing to do with it.”
While some say the couples knew what they’d signed up for, the show has changed from its original premise of a marriage experiment to a show trying to shock for ratings.
“I’ve heard horror stories about how some producers threaten cast to perform on set or they will ‘screw them up in post’,” another source spills. “A lot of the stories are fabricated and the cast told to suck it up and enjoy the fame.”
They reveal how whole scenes are manipulated in the editing suite to create more drama. “Conversations are being completely fabricated. It’s all a sham. Australia’s biggest hoax.”
New Idea approached Channel Nine for comment, however, the network did not respond at the time of going to print.
