The Melbourne based woman started out weighing 87kg and now weighs just 67kg.
She started the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet in 2017 after feeling bloated and overweight.
"I just remember thinking that I didn’t feel good about myself. I didn’t think about how I looked, I just knew that I was feeling bigger and didn’t feel good about it. Clothes I loved didn’t fit anymore, and I was in denial about the weight gain and was refusing to weigh myself," said Amy.
"When I stepped on the scales at home and saw I was the heaviest I have ever been in my life I knew I had to try something."
Before started the diet, Amy's eating plan was full of lots of indulgences.
"I always found excuses to eat – great holidays, new restaurants, birthdays. I am a very social person, and food is often so central to social occasions.
"I was eating way too many carbohydrates and indulgences and my portion sizes were too large. I used to eat lots of big bowls of pasta, rice and curries. I was also eating takeaway like burgers and pizza and going out for brunch most weekends.
"I also liked to treat myself when I went supermarket shopping, chips and chocolate were my favourite choices, especially if they were on special!" she said.
But since starting the Total Wellbeing Diet and trialling their new Gut program Amy says she eats more whole foods, incorporating all the five food groups especially protein and fibre rich foods.
"Rather than having too much takeaway I plan and prepare my meals and eat more wholegrain foods and double as many vegetables a day.
"My portion sizes are more controlled and while I still enjoy the occasional indulgence these are treats rather than something I have every afternoon," she says.
Thanks to the diet, Amy says she is happier in herself.
"I feel a lot lighter and have more energy and am in less pain now that I am not carrying around the extra weight. I used to have terrible heel pain, and that has disappeared.
"The combination of a high protein, low GI, high fibre plan keeps me feeling fuller for longer, assists with my weight loss and improves my overall wellbeing. I am more excited to socialise and meet new people, as I am not self-conscious about my size."
