He also uploaded the picture to Instagram adding: "Tonight my beautiful darling sister passed away from Cancer. She was the sweetest of all sweethearts.
"Always giving love - 36 years a nurse, compassionate till the end! I am heartbroken. Love you beautiful Maria, mitten," he added.
Two days prior to her death, the 56-year-old shared a picture of him surrounded by family, including his sister Maria.
"I am lucky, very lucky to have a beautiful sister Maria who has always looked after me. ❤️love you Maria," he wrote.
Celebrities flooded his account with their condolences.
“Mate so sad Anto, love to all your family brother x," wrote country musician Troy Caser-Daly.
Emma Watkins, the yellow wiggle also added a comment with prayer signs and hearts.
