A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told PEOPLE that the star was arrested ‘for 273.5 of the penal code, which is domestic violence. The arrest stems from an incident on Feb. 18 around 2:40 a.m. at a party…the suspect was involved in an altercation with the victim in which he struck the victim.'
According to TMZ, he was arrested after the alleged victim, Andrea Buera claimed Trey gave her a concussion after beating her at Hollywood party.
It has been reported that the singer was released a few hours after his arrest and is scheduled to appear in court on April 9.
Following his release, Trey seemed to address the incident on social media in a series of tweets.
