It’s been almost two years since Schapelle stepped back onto Australian soil after spending nine years in a Balinese prison.
So it comes as no surprise that the 41-year-old is relishing her new-found freedom with family and friends, often sharing photos of her adventures on social media – something she’s had to get to grips with since returning home.
In fact various followers have questioned if she has undergone plastic surgery since her release.
While Schapelle is yet to respond to any of the comments – suggesting she has undergone a number of cosmetic procedures including a brow lift, botox injections and neck liposuction – her sister Mercedes is adamant that this is not the case.
“Schapelle has not had any invasive treatment or surgery,” Mercedes tells New Idea.
“She’s not had cheek implants, a nose job, lifts or implants. Those reports are false.”
In fact, Mercedes credits Schapelle’s youthful appearance and glow to having given up smoking and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
“Schapelle has always been attractive and she looks after herself,” Mercedes continues, conceding that her sister does, like most women, enjoy being pampered every now and again at a beauty salon.
“She does like to have microdermabrasion treatments and the occasional facial but she also eats healthy and drinks lots of water.”
According to Mercedes, Schapelle quit smoking last year – and this has also done wonders not just for her skin but her health, too.
“Schapelle stopped smoking cigarettes after her return to Australia and so she has had injections to smooth out the lines on the top of her lip,” Mercedes explains.
“She also wears a lip liner as she has a slight discolouration on a small part of her lip. It looks like lost pigment and she is aware of it.”
And, as for Schapelle’s eyebrow-raising brows, Mercedes says there is a simple explanation to the sudden lift.
“Schapelle used to pluck her eyebrows a lot and they were very thin, and now she has them professionally sculptured, which has also dramatically changed the look of her face.”
