Princess Mary’s pet dog Ziggy has passed away at the age of 12.
The Border Collie was a wedding gift for Princess Mary and Prince Frederik and has been a loved member of the family ever since.
The Danish royal family announced the news on their official Instagram account.
‘The dog has been part of the family for 12 years and was a wedding gift to the royal couple,’ it read.
‘Ziggy was a faithful and loving dog, who unfortunately suffered from chronic renal failure and osteoarthritis.’
Princess Mary previously spoke about how her pet pup was loved by all in the family, including her four children, Prince Christian, Princess Josephine, Princess Isabella and Prince Vincent.
‘In the morning we make porridge, and all sit around the dining table. Then we talk and eat, while our dog Ziggy runs in and out. It's really cosy,’ she told Hello.
