“Our thoughts are with those impacted by these horrendous fires, and those working heroically to fight them.”
In addition to passing on their regards, the Duke and Duchess also provided the details of the NSW Rural Fire Service and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.
Royal fans welcomed the show of support, with many taking to Twitter to thank William and Kate for acknowledging what is happening in Australia while sharing their own messages.
“Thank you KP for posting this. It’s heartwarming to see that you know what is going on here in Australia. Hoping everyone stays safe and the loss of property is as minimal as possible,” one person wrote.
“Thank you for your thoughts & love. This is absolutely horrendous & the weather is only going to get worse. The whole east coast is covered in thick smoke,” another person stated.
A third person added: “Our thoughts are with those impacted by these horrendous fires, and those working heroically to fight them.”
The Duke and Duchess’ heartfelt message comes after it was revealed many residents have started returning to their homes after severe bushfires destroyed them.
Rainbow Flat couple Peter and Lyn underwent the heartbreaking task of returning to their home to see the damage first hand on Sunrise on Monday morning.
When Sunrise presenter Matt Doran mentioned that the couple had lost all of their possessions, Peter replied by saying he was devastated before adding: “it's only things.”
