“My cousin Naomi was born profoundly deaf and is a graduate of The Shepherd Centre,” Penny says. “She is an inspiration to me and the reason I became involved with this wonderful charity. It’s an amazing organisation that ensures deaf children receive the best possible support and education.”
Indeed, for almost 50 years, The Shepherd Centre – a not-for-profit organisation – has assisted deaf or hearing-impaired children to develop spoken language and improve their quality of life. And, as Penny explains, we can all help.
“October 19 is Loud Shirt Day,” says Penny. “So wear your loudest and brightest outfit and host an event at your workplace or with your friends.”
