“They’re not showing all the meltdowns that Victor has had so far, like he’s had so many meltdowns up
until this point,” Josh claimed on Instagram Live last week.
“There was a meltdown with Victor every single day.”
Josh and Austin claim Victor would often lose his cool at the production team when the cameras weren’t rolling.
“He would get up right next to their face and he would start screaming, swearing at them behind the scenes,” Josh claims.
When New Idea spoke exclusively with Victor, the 29-year-old denied that he was aggressive behind the scenes to producers.
“I was never physically or verbally aggressive towards anyone,” he states.
“I may have raised my voice to make my demands clear ... I don’t think I ever overstepped the mark.”
Victor claims he was “manipulated” by producers to create drama for the show.
“Producers, in my mind, have a clear-cut job and that is to manipulate and create drama,” he says.
“Sometimes that involves lies and sometimes that involves just a lot of manipulation of people – pushing them to certain limits and I was very clear from the start, when I was asked to go and do the show, that I wasn’t interested in being involved in a show that was full of drama.
“I legitimately like food and that’s why I wanted to, you know, cook, but I wasn’t going to be involved in something that was just surrounding drama. So I stupidly agreed to go on this show.”
Unfortunately for Victor, he is at the centre of the biggest drama of this season thanks to his relationship with recently separated mum-of-two Piper.
This week, questions will be raised about the effect their secret romance had on scoring during the Super Dinner Parties.
“I don’t really think the relationship had anything to do with the competition,” Victor states firmly.
“I think it’s been pretty clear throughout the entire season that G and I always score with integrity.
“We never scored based on personality – it was always about food.”
This week, both on and off screen, the drama will build so much that Victor revealed he decided to quit MKR.
“We did pull the pin,” he admits. “I took my mic off and I walked down the street and I sat down because ... I had a moment of clarity, that I didn’t need to sit around and cop any of this.
“In real life, when people are jumping down your throat or you don’t feel like you’re in a good space or you don’t like the energies that are around you, you’re all right to just walk away and take a breather and collect your thoughts.
So, for a second, I realised that I didn’t need to be a contestant on the show, I could just be me and I could just walk away and I knew G well enough to know that whatever I did, he would have my back on it and I needed to leave at that point in time.”
Victor reveals both he and G received “some really bad news” from home the night of their elimination cook off against Lyn and Sal, where the conflict first kicked off ahead of the Super Dinner Parties.
“After the cameras went off and we wrapped, all the other teams came up to us,” he recounts.
“I wasn’t feeling in a very affectionate mood because of the things that had happened prior to the show so literally, I went downstairs and pushed everyone off ... for the next few days G and I were just staying to ourselves ... not being able to do anything to help the people that we care about, just feeling helpless, and asking ourselves ‘what this is all about’?”
Then, when the teams reconvened at Matt and Luke’s Super Dinner Party, Victor says things exploded.
“I was pretty silent and for some reason something started brewing within them,” he says.
“I said to them on a number of occasions, which I’m sure won’t air, that I was going through a lot of things that were external to the show that I didn’t want to bring into the show because it’d make no sense to the viewers and G was going through the same things so we were just feeling a little bit reclusive.
“They started mentioning the [strategic voting], we never mentioned it ... people started delving into other things, like Piper, and at this point they were grappling at anything to get a reaction out of me because I wasn’t giving them anything and so it just kind of snowballed from there, so I was like, ‘Listen, I don’t have to listen to this, I’m leaving’.”
Will Victor and G leave the competition forever?
