In 2014 she found out her father was diagnosed with asbestos-related lung cancer.
He died in August 2014, three months after her son River was born.
"A week before River was due, he got it together enough to fly from Perth to Melbourne and I'm so glad he did, because River was born a day later," she said on Anh's Brush With Fame
In the emotional episode, she also opened up about her final moments with her father.
"I wrote him a letter, it was about five pages long," she revealed. "It was just a mix of memories and thoughts and feelings I had about him. And some stuff I'd never said, because you always think you're going to have forever with your parents.
"I got home and he was so weak and I just saw him in bed, and I just went up behind him and gave him a hug and I started crying.
"He just said, 'That's OK, my lovely.' He said, 'You can cry, but, um... but not too much. Please don't.' And I said, 'OK. I promise I won't.''
