“I don't really like Jess's behaviour because I'm mates with Mick and he's a genuine guy and he's trying his absolute best to make the relationship work,” Michael explains to New Idea. “To have your missus stray and pull another husband aside and flirt with another husband is unacceptable in my books.”
The school teacher from Melbourne thinks the right thing to do would have been to have finished one relationship properly before starting on another. “If Jess doesn't want to be with Mick, she can leave, that's my opinion,” he says bluntly. “There are a lot of other guys out there and she could end her relationship first before going after someone else.”
And despite saying he is team ‘guys’ – he doesn’t let Dan off the hook either. “I feel like Dan is also wrong but to a lesser extent because he hasn't been with Tamara as long. But at the same time it's starting to cheat on your partner and I don't condone that at all, it's not in any of my values. So his behaviour isn't acceptable either.”
Reflecting on how he would feel if it happened to him, Michael reveals he wouldn’t take it well. “I'd probably be shattered,” he says. But despite not approving of what’s going on, Michael says he will not make a scene about it.
“It's a situation that I want to distance myself from,” he explains. “I'm not here to stir the pot, I'm not here for the drama, I'm here for my wife, I'm here for Martha to support her and be with her.
“So one side of me is just like ‘back away and don't even think about what’s going on’ but you're kind of pushed into it because it's happening right in front of you, so it's a really tough one to deal with,” Michael says.
