Despite announcing her engagement months ago, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have yet to confirm a date for their big day.
While several media outlets are reporting the reason for the delay being the scandal involving her father Prince Andrew’s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, it may actually come down to royal protocol.

It is known that The Queen is always informed of proposed wedding dates and must give her blessing.
Theories for the delay include Her Majesty’s desire to wait until the December election is done, while another theory is that the date is already known amongst her guests.

“She [Princess Beatrice] is up against the clock if she wants to have a wedding within the six-month time frame usual for aristocratic nuptials, but everyone is so relieved things are moving,” the insider said.
“She’s been very down. A wild, glitzy, high-profile engagement party should cheer her up.”
Royal observers believe Princess Beatrice will have to postpone her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in the wake of Prince Andrew's interview.

Meanwhile royal experts are betting that Beatrice will privatise her impending wedding following the recent drama with her father.
"Beatrice’s wedding will be collateral damage. I will not be surprised if she has a rather quiet wedding, out of the public eye, with a few photos, no live coverage," tweeted royal expert and author Marlene Koenig.

Royal insiders say Prince Andrew participated in the interview to "clear his name" ahead of Beatrice's wedding so he could walk her down the aisle with his "head held high," according to iNews. However, it appears to have had the opposite effect.
