Kerri-Anne could be seen weeping as she gently laid her hand on her late husband’s coffin.
John's son Simon gave an eulogy in which he paid tribute to his father.
'He lived a tremendous life. I love you dearly dad. I am proud to be your son,' he told the assembled mourners.
'I miss you already'.
Kerri-Anne broke the news of her husband’s death on Feb. 28 in a moving Instagram post.
‘It's with a heavy heart and awful sadness that I let you know that my beautiful husband John passed away last night,’ she wrote.
‘As you all know, John has faced some tremendous challenges over the past few years and with each he has been extraordinarily brave and determined to overcome those hurdles and live a normal life.
‘I want to thank everyone at St Vincent's Hospital for the beautiful care they have provided to John in his last days.
‘John passed away peacefully with his son Simon and I by his side.
‘John, you were the love of my life.
Xxx.’
Kerri-Anne and John met in New York in the late 1970s, following KAK's abusive first marriage to music producer Jimmy Miller.
Kerri-Anne sought support from friend John Kennerley, who helped her leave the marriage.
'When she arrived at my doorstep with a black eye and a bit of a bloody nose, I realised exactly what was happening,' John previously recalled.
The pair returned to Australia and were married in 1984, in a glitzy ceremony in 1984 at the Sydney Opera House.
