Jarrod Woodgate and Keira Maguire announced their shock split last month, and now the vineyard manager has spoken out for the first time.
The 32-year-old reality star admits he ended the relationship three-weeks ago, after nearly nine months of dating.
Speaking to WHO, Jarrod reveals it was Keira's obsession with social media that led to the demise of their relationship.
Jarrod told the publication, 'Being in the public eye, we made it look like we had a perfect relationship and that’s what people see on Instagram. I found myself turning into something I wasn’t [and] I couldn’t fake it anymore.'
The Toms Cap Vineyard manager added, 'Her Instagram following is overwhelming and it was taking over our relationship. She’s purely Instagram-focused, and that takes up a lot of time.'
Working five days a week at his family vineyard, Jarrod claims the couple would only see each other two days of the week. When the couple did eventually spend time together, the Bachelor In Paradise alum claims Keira's mind was elsewhere.
'I’d spend two days a week with her and it [was] basically all Instagram-based. It’s hard because you’re competing with 177,000 other people that follow her, but I shouldn’t have to compete,' he told WHO.
Jarrod added, 'Keira is a beautiful woman and I had the best times I’ve had in my life with her. But I didn’t see it going anywhere. For me, it wasn’t a genuine connection because everything we did went through Instagram, and I’m a farm guy who hardly touches his phone.'
Last week, Keira spoke out about the couple's split, claiming Jarrod 'dumped her' for not having a full time job.
'It was Jarrod who broke up with me,' a heartbroken Keira told WHO. 'I really believed we’d live happily ever after. I was so ready for that and nothing else in my life really mattered.'
'Jarrod didn’t like the fact I didn't have a full-time job,' she added. 'He would make me feel bad about my lifestyle, because my job was doing endorsements and he's about working hard in a nine-to-five job. I used to work in the corporate world, but he didn’t know me then, so he didn’t see that and it made me feel really down.'
