In a very close race, Mel and Dave were given a 24 out of 30, Toad and Mandy were also given a 24 out of 30, while Chiara and David only received 20 out of 30.
In the end it came down to Mel and Dave's bonus room, which decided who was going through to the Grand Final.
Shockingly, David was so overwhelmed before hearing the results he began to feel faint.
He later tells, 'I went completely blank. I can't even hear the feedback.'
The judges give the FIFO worker a moment to regather himself.
Drew decided to fail the teams room, while Wendy and Laurence passed Mel and Dave's deck zone - meaning they were through to the finals.
'Devastated. 150 million percent devastated,' David says.
'We got out knowing we've done our absolute best with it, and for Chelsea and Koa,' he adds. 'That's the high we'll go out on.'
'We just appreciate this journey.'
Laurence tells, 'I am so sorry to see you two go. I have loved you all, all the way through. You wear your hearts on your sleeves, you work so hard, you listen to what we're saying, and you have been creating some amazing things.'
'It's bittersweet for us,' Toad says. 'We're through to the Grand Final and they're going home.'
'It is sad to see David and Chiara go,' Mandy concurs.
The House Rules Grand Final airs Monday, 7:30pm, on Channel Seven.
