Home and Away's Jake Ryan tells: “We had to treat the ultrasound scene with a lot of respect”
The actor dishes on why it was so important to get it right.

Filming tonight’s gripping Home and Away storyline development, in which an extremely anxious Tori returns to the hospital with Robbo by her side for a repeat 20-week ultrasound, wasn’t taken lightly by the characters’ portrayers Penny McNamee and Jake Ryan.

“Scenes like this you have to treat with a lot of respect and take them seriously,” says Jake, adding, “and not just because Penny was pregnant [in real life] at the time.
“It’s such a precious thing – life – and there are so many people who have miscarriages or problems [with pregnancy]. I think everyone is just subconsciously aware when we’re doing stuff like that on set.
“It can be a pretty touching storyline for people, and we knew we had a responsibility to tell something with a lot of heart.”
Jake and Penny took the pregnancy scenes very seriously.
