The series, which features both new and old songs, will also include special appearances by Dolly, who will appear as a character in the stories.
Joining the 73-year-old songstress will be veteran actresses Kathleen Turner, Ginnifer Goodwin, Delta Burke, Melissa Leo and Julianne Hough.
Julianne, who is most recognisable from her roles in Safe Haven and Footloose, will portray Jolene, one of Dolly’s most iconic characters from her songs.
Dolly's latest Netflix series comes after the success of her first project with the streaming network, Dumplin’, which starred Jennifer Aniston.
Fans were quick to take to social media and share in their excitement upon hearing the news of the upcoming series, with one person writing: “OMG!! OMG!! OMG!!”
