Currently David – who had travel insurance - remains sedated and on life support, with his outcome uncertain.
Shocking video of the accident appears to show David’s head snap forward as he hits the water at the bottom of the slide.
Now family and friends are calling for a safety investigation at the park.
‘He was using the ride exactly as he should have been - so this is in no way his fault,’ says David’s uncle Mark Pooley told The Sun.
‘All I can do is beg people not to use [the ride] - no-one wants any more tragedies.’
The slide reportedly remains open, despite the accident.
The family have set up a crowdfunding appeal for health care, with the funding page reading: ‘The catastrophic injuries mean that David will need life-long care. His life has changed and so has the lives of those closest to him.
‘His parents home will need to be remodelled for disability access, specialised treatment and new treatments will need to be explored and of course many other unforseen expenses covered.’
