Wintour, who has been in charge of the Met Gala guest list since 1995, said that Prince Harry and Prince William need not accompany their wives: “They could leave their husbands at home. It’s the two of them I want.”
Wintour has been a fan of both Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's fashion sense, having spoken favourably about their style in the past.
While discussing Kate's effortless chic to the New York Times, Wintour said: “There’s nothing trashy or vulgar about her. She dresses her age and never looks out of place.”
Kate and Meghan wouldn't be the first royals invited to the coveted charity ball, Princess Diana of Wales attended the Met in 1996, while Princess Beatrice attended last year.
