Author Andrew Morton, who famously wrote Princess Diana’s tell-all biography, Diana: Her True Story, is now turning his attention to future royal, Meghan Markle.
His new book, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess will shed light on the soon-to-be royal.
Here are 5 shocking revelations we learnt from the book.
1. She was obsessed with Princess Diana
In excerpts published by The Sun, Morton reveals that when Meghan was a teenager, she thought of Harry’s late mother, Diana as an inspiration and a ‘role model’.
‘According to family friends, she was intrigued by Diana, not just for her style, but for her independent humanitarian mission, seeing her as a role model,’ the author claims.
Adding, that her friend Ninaki Priddy said, ‘She was always fascinated by the royal family. She wants to be Princess Diana 2.0.’
2. She was a party girl
During her time at Chicago’s Northwestern University, Andrew reveals that Meghan was very different from the girl we know now.
The book reveals that Meghan joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, whose members use to party and search for boyfriends.
‘Meghan was seen as a cool catch,’ Andrew writes.
The sorority girl was a ‘party animal’ who enjoyed drinking and staying out late he claims.
3. She avoided Donald Trump
Meghan landed a role as a briefcase girl on US Deal or No Deal in 2006 and when celebrity guest, Donald Trump turned up on the show, she didn’t go near him writes Andrew.
‘He gave girls his card and invited them to play golf at one of his courses,’ he reveals.
Fellow briefcase girl Tameka Jacobs told Andrew. ‘He was super-creepy, but some girls were attracted to money and power and took his number,’ she said.
‘Meghan was one of the girls who gave him a wide berth.’
4. She ended her first marriage suddenly
Meghan wed movie producer, Trevor Engelson in 2011 but, Andrew claims that the couple struggled with a long-distance relationship after Meghan relocated to Toronto for her role in Suits.
The marriage lasted two years before they split.
‘The marriage ended so abruptly that Meghan sent Trevor her diamond wedding and engagement rings back by registered mail,’ he writes.
What’s more, Andrew claims that, even five years later, Trevor, ‘can barely contain his anger’ towards his ex.
5. She rehearsed drinking tea before meeting the queen
Meghan was reportedly so nervous before meeting The Queen for the first time that she rehearsed the etiquette of tea-drinking before the big day.
A few months before the big day she took a secret trip to Rose Tree Cottage in Pasadena, California for afternoon tea, claims Andrew.
It is there that she learnt all the protocols for having tea, including crooking her finger as she held the cup and saucer he writes.
