One mother has posted a question (read: scathing rant) to parenting forum Mumsnet that has gotten particularly heated.
The woman begins her post by explaining that she has been with her partner for 10 years and they have a six-year-old daughter together.
The woman further explains that the family had been asked to vacate their home through 'no fault of their own' and were as a result living with her mother until March. The woman explains her partner had a falling out with his own mother during this time because she asked about when he would be paying her back for a loan from two years prior.
The post read, 'MIL [mother-in-law] is absolutely awful, she turned his whole family against him and then plays little miss innocent. We've never got on as I personally think she is vile, and not a good mother at all.'
The woman then argues that her in-laws don't 'NEED' the money.
The post then goes on to explain how the son and his mother have started to mend their relationship.
'Now [he] has started to make up with MIL, which is good for him as you only get one mum (regardless of my feelings about her).
'So I am genuinely glad that he's started to build bridges. However, every time he takes her [the couples daughter] round to the in-laws he gets grilled on when he will be setting up a 'repayment plan' to pay back the money we owed.
'The amount of money he owes isn’t much, I think the reason why he hasn’t paid it back it purely principle. Both parents have no mortgage, can afford to retire early and go on multiple cruises and holidays per year. So in his eyes they don’t NEED the money.'
The comment section was inundated with social media users who could not agree.
