It turns out that Mel and Wippa used to work at the same radio station in Perth over a decade ago, Mel as a receptionist and Wippa as a breakfast show host.
Co-host Sarah McGilvray brought up the connection: “Melissa, this is the first time we’ve met, so I apologise if this is a bit forward, but my other half used to live with Wippa in Perth,
“We saw a promo (for MAFS), and he was really shocked when you appeared on screen, and then he showed me this photo of you and Michael Wipfli.
Sarah cheekily continued, “So how do you two know each other? Because Wips wouldn’t confirm exactly how you knew each other, and we know it’s not just work …”
It wasn't long until Mel confirmed that the pair had a "really good relationship" and had been "very close".
For his part, Wippa acknowledged the dalliance but added that it had not gone further than a kiss: “We weren’t in a relationship, we hooked up a couple of times, we kissed a couple of times, 10 or 12 years ago”.
Married At First Sight's Dino and Melissa failed to make a strong connection on Tuesday night's episode, yet after a chat with her friends, Melissa decided she's going to give it a go.
We'll see how this marriage plays out!
