Why Meghan Markle took off her engagement ring in public
And it’s not the reason you might think

The Duchess of Sussex is rarely spotted without the stunning engagement ring that Prince Harry gave her.

But, before they were engaged, the then Meghan Markle, was forced to take off her fake engagement ring when she was on the set of Suits.
According to her on-screen father, Wendell Pierce, the former actress had to be careful when she was filming the hit legal drama in case fans mistook the fake ring for a real one from Harry.
At the time, Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane was engaged to Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) on the series and had to wear an engagement ring when filming.

However, Meghan almost had a close call one day when she forgot to take it off.
“One time, we were doing a scene before [Meghan and Harry] got engaged where she was engaged with Mike on the show and they said, 'Wait, don't get out of the car,’” Wendell revealed to KTLA 5.
“They said, 'Give us the ring because there's a paparazzi down the street.'"

He went on to reveal that security were concerned about the headlines pictures of Meghan wearing the fake ring would cause.
Of course, Meghan later went on to announce her engagement to Harry in 2017, where she was gifted the real deal!
