As we inch closer and closer to the royal baby’s due date, bookies are slashing the odds for bets on what Prince William and Kate Middleton will call their third bundle of joy.
UK bookmakers Labrokes have revealed that Mary – in honour of Queen Mary – has become a firm favourite for the royal moniker with odds at 4-1, while Paddy Power has been forced to suspend betting on the baby being a girl.
Other girls names sitting at the top of the list are Alice, Victoria and Alexandra, while Albert and Arthur have come out as frontrunners should the baby be a boy.

‘Punters are convinced the Duke and Duchess are expecting another little girl, and obviously it would be a lovely touch to honour Her Majesty’s grandmother, but it will be interesting to see if any boys’ names are backed over the coming weeks before the birth,’ says Jessica Bridge from Ladbrokes.
While no longer in the top 100 names for England and Wales, should the couple bestow the name on their newest arrival we can expect to see Mary make a comeback – with George surging to third place and Charlotte to 12th following their births.
