However, the pair say they’re conscious of encouraging a positive body image with their students.
“We have worked with young minds for so long,” Courtney says.
“We’ve never been about ‘you’re not the right image’. We are about healthy and strong and that it’s more about a mindset than skinny.”
Pete agrees with his wife, saying that dance doesn’t discriminate based on size.
“We’re never focused on body shape,” he reveals.
“We’re about healthy eating and about dance. For us, it’s a performance vehicle.
“We want dance-making to be about production and stories and it doesn’t matter what size you are.
"It’s about the execution of the movement so even in our teaching with impressionable kids and lots of girls, we are never focused on their size or weight.”
